Blinds for Conservatories: The Complete Guide

Conservatories are one of the most popular home improvements in the UK — but they can be uncomfortable without the right blinds. Too hot in summer, too cold in winter, and too bright on sunny days. The right blinds solve all three problems.

The challenge is that conservatories have different types of windows — sloped roof panels, vertical side windows, and often bi-fold or sliding doors — and each needs a different blind solution.

Conservatory Roof Blinds

The roof is the most important area to blind. Without roof blinds, a conservatory can become unbearably hot in summer and lose heat rapidly in winter.

Pleated Blinds

The most popular choice for conservatory roofs. Pleated blinds are made to fit the exact shape of each roof panel — including angled and shaped panels. They fold away neatly when raised and are available in solar fabrics that reduce heat and glare, or blackout fabrics for total privacy. They can be operated by hand pole or motorised.

Duette (Honeycomb) Blinds

Duette blinds have a honeycomb construction that traps air and provides excellent thermal insulation — keeping the conservatory cooler in summer and warmer in winter. They're more expensive than standard pleated blinds but offer significantly better energy performance.

Conservatory Side Window Blinds

Perfect Fit Blinds

Perfect Fit blinds are the ideal solution for uPVC conservatory side windows. They clip directly into the window frame with no drilling, no screws, and no damage to the frame. Available as roller, pleated, or Venetian. The no-gap fit also helps with insulation.

Roller Blinds

A clean, simple option for side windows. Choose a solar fabric to reduce glare while maintaining the view, or a blackout fabric for privacy. Made to measure for a perfect fit.

Venetian Blinds

Aluminium or faux wood Venetians work well in conservatories — they're moisture-resistant and give you precise light control. Faux wood adds warmth to what can sometimes be a cold-feeling space.

Conservatory Door Blinds

Vertical Blinds

Vertical blinds are the standard choice for conservatory bi-fold and sliding doors. The louvres stack neatly to one side when the door is open, so they don't obstruct the doorway. Available in fabric, PVC, and voile.

Perfect Fit Blinds for Doors

If your conservatory has uPVC doors, Perfect Fit blinds can be fitted to the door panels themselves. They move with the door when it opens, so there's no need to raise or lower the blind every time.

Getting the Most from Your Conservatory Blinds

A well-blinded conservatory can be used comfortably all year round. Solar fabrics on the roof and side windows will reduce heat gain in summer by up to 70%. Duette blinds on the roof will significantly reduce heat loss in winter.
